I visited Michigan State’s Forest Akers courses this past week and spoke to Bryan Harris, the General Manager of the courses, to find out what goes into keeping both maintained for play as the spring gets underway. “We did a little bit of work this last fall on our other golf course, and it seems to help a little bit,” Harris informs me.

NASHVILLE, TN (September 14, 2023) – Special Olympics Tennessee’s (SOTN) State Flag Football Tournament returns this weekend, September 16, 2023, at Franklin Road Academy. The event will feature 29 teams from across the state, plus over 100 athletes will participate in a flag football skills session. In addition, SOTN will host 80 athletes to participate in a demonstration of pickleball and cornhole. The 29 teams participating this year is a 10-team increase over last year.

During a recent visit to the National Civil Rights Museum as part of Summer Camp, one Greater Memphis athlete reflected on what he learned and shared his dream for a future endeavor. Kenny Lurry is an athlete from Memphis, Tennessee. His favorite sports are basketball and bowling. His first experience with Special Olympics was in 2018 and he’s “been having fun ever since.”Last week in Memphis, it was their annual Summer Camp.
