    Sitka, Alaska (KTUU) - Friends of the Sheldon Jackson Museum in Sitka are asking for the community’s help after they lost funding from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) on Friday. According to Melissa Fouse, President of the Friends of the Sheldon Jackson Museum Board, the grant funding cut had come after the funding had already been approved. “We applied for the grant and then we got a letter saying that this no longer comported with the administration’s priorities,” Fouse said.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) -A controlled burn is scheduled to take place as soon as Monday, May 12, near Anchorage between the Hilltop Ski Area and the Prospect Heights Trailhead, according to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources. Once the burn has been started, smoke will be extremely visible throughout Anchorage, and because of this, residents are encouraged not to report the burn to 911 or other dispatch centers.

    ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska Native Tribes are speaking out against the Yukon Flats Oil Exploration after around 1,000 gallons of diesel were spilled near the Yukon River Campground. According to documents from the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, on April 4, a diesel fuel truck owned by Brice Inc. was parked in the southeast corner of the Yukon River Camp lease parking lot that is across the road from the Yukon River Campground.
