(WBKO) - Fresh off of opening the season the road with a win, the WKU Lady Topper basketball squad played in Diddle Arena for the first time this season and won big, 104-49 over Kentucky State. Graduate guard Destiny Salary led the way for the Lady Toppers with 18 points on 7-10 shooting. Senior transfer Mariama Sow followed with 17 points and four rebounds. Junior guard Acacia Hayes had 14 points and six rebounds.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - WKU Volleyball secures another weekend sweep after beating New Mexico State. With the wins, the Hilltoppers improve to 21-6 overall and 14-0 in CUSA play. The Aggies fall to 14-12 overall and 8-6 in conference play. Both Alivia Skidmore and senior outside hitter Kaylee Cox set the pace for the Hilltoppers with four kills each while Van De Wiele led in blocks with three that included two solos.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - Up next on the Countdown to Kickoff is the team who gets to play on the “Smurf Turf” the Warren East Raiders. The Raiders are entering its second year under head coach Tanner Hall looking to navigate a tough district with a young team. The Raiders had a deep senior class last season and now its time for those younger guys to get their chance on the field. This summer has been about getting the next man ready to step up and compete on Friday nights.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - We are now a week away from the 2024 High School Football season taking off as we head to Brownsville for our next Countdown to Kickoff, the Edmonson County Wildcats. The wildcats had a rough 2023 season going 2-9 before falling to Mayfield in the first round of the 2A state tournament. It will be a lot of new for the wildcats this season, Edmonson County has its third head coach in the past four seasons with new head coach Justin Vessels taking over the reigns.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) - We continue our 2024 Countdown to Kickoff with the team 25 minutes down Russellville Road, the Logan County Cougars. The Cougars have been one of the more consistent programs of the past decade. Last season, Logan County finished with an 8-4 record and fell to Bardstown in the second round of the 4A State Tournament. The Cougars lost a big senior class with the top two rushers, receivers, and defensive players all graduating. “We lost a lot in that class.
