Several people from Maryland were the 67 killed in the horrific Washington, D.C., plane crash on Jan. 29.From figure skaters to parents of young children and members of the United Association of Union Plumbers and Pipefitters, several Marylanders were on board American Eagle Flight 5342. The plane and a military helicopter collided over the Potomac River near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, leaving no survivors. In the ensuing days, crews pulled more than 40 bodies from the river.

2 charged in connection with murder-for-hire plot

Baltimore City indicted two men for their alleged roles in a murder-for-hire plot Tuesday. The case dates back four years. The two indictments are the first in what the Baltimore City State's attorney's office believes will be a series of arrests. A Baltimore grand jury indicted Cornell Moore and Keith Russell earlier in October. Both face first-degree murder, firearm and gang charges. The indictment claims the two men were members of a Baltimore gang.
