Law enforcement officials are fighting a new drug being added to the illegal drug supply in Michigan. It’s being transported across the nation and making the deadliest drug threat the United States has ever seen, even deadlier. The drug is Xylazine. It’s a powerful animal tranquilizer that is now helping to fuel overdose deaths that have reached record setting levels.

CADILLAC -- Michigan inland fishing guides are beginning to to see changes. Starting March 1, 2024, all guides will need to meet new requirements to obtain a guide license through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. All applicants will be required to pass background checks as well as a few other requirements. One of the bigger changes that will be starting April 1, 2024. All licensed inland sport fishing guides must file an electronic report of their monthly catch activity.

CADILLAC — As Michigan’s weather has been all over the place in the last 24 hours, one local ski hill is looking to capitalize. Caberfae Peaks was closed Wednesday to take advantage of the frigid temperatures. The ski hill plans to make as much snow as they possibly can Wednesday through Thursday afternoon to try and build up their base snow. They are working with a base up to 30 inches still, and they hope to add another six to eight inches in the next 24 hours.

BIG RAPIDS — The Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a deadly mobile home fire that happened in Big Rapids Wednesday. Multiple fire departments responded to a fire at a mobile home park located at Circle Drive on 185th Avenue around 9 a.m.According to officials, two people were found dead inside of the trailer in different rooms. The names of the two men who have died have not yet been released.

TRAVERSE CITY — Voters have been pouring into Governmental Center in Traverse City to cast their vote in the presidential primary. 9&10′s Katelyn Davis spoke to Chris Cracchiolo from the Grand Traverse County Democrats. He believes President Biden will take Michigan’s Democratic presidential primary, but he’s also looking at several contested congressional districts and how each party will fare.
