    CAZENOVIA — The Cazenovia Public Library & Museum will welcome educator Derrick Pratt to the Community Room on Monday, May 5, at 6 p.m. to deliver a presentation celebrating the bicentennial of the Erie Canal. Built between 1817 and 1825, the original Erie Canal traversed 363 miles from Albany on the Hudson River to Buffalo on Lake Erie. According to the Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, it was the longest artificial waterway and the greatest public works project in North America.

    CAZENOVIA — From March 28 to 30, 26 members and supporters of the Limestone Creek Hunt (LCH) attended the Sedgefield Hunt Carolinas Foxhound Performance Trials in Hoffman, North Carolina. The event included over 120 riders from numerous hunts. LCH Huntsman Doug Russell brought five of the club’s best hounds to compete; this year’s LCH entrants were Jolene, Howie, Laker, Falcon, and Kenobi.

    CAZENOVIA — In December 2024, Bottlecap Press published Cazenovia author Katherine “Kitty” Leonard’s first poetry chapbook, “Requiem for the Beekeeper.”A chapbook is a small poetry collection, generally no more than 40 pages, often centered on a specific theme. Leonard’s work features 23 poems, some very short and several two pages long, arranged into three sections. According to the author, the poems in the first section offer a broad exploration of the deep interweaving of humans and nature.
