Prominent Brisbane businesswoman Margaret Lawson has shared her heartbreaking diagnosis of terminal lung cancer in the hope it will bring awareness of the disease killing young women at alarming rates. Ms Lawson was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in June after requesting a CT scan for a lingering headache. Doctors found multiple tumours in her brain and soon discovered the cancer had spread from her lungs.

Albion Park Harness Racing Club chief executive Scott Steele was the general manager of operations at the Brisbane Racing Club when he sexually assaulted a young woman at an "after-party" at Friday's Riverside on December 17, 2016.

Many years ago, while on a 2000km road trip with my dog that crossed four states, I spent a night at a pet-friendly roadside motel in a small town in the middle of nowhere. It was a relic of the ’80s, nestled between two truck yards (think faux leather couch, brown coverlet, built-in headboard and side tables) but it was comfortable and I was glad to have a room where I could bring my dog inside. In my mind, this is where the bar for pet-friendly accommodation sits.

Zip ties were involved in the deaths of a young man and woman at a Doolandella home but detectives have refused to confirm if they are treating the deaths as a domestic violence-related murder-suicide. Detective Inspector Michael Hogan said officers received a “welfare call” and attended the Redhead St house about 7pm where the pair – a man aged 34 and a woman aged 29 – were found dead. The man and woman were known to each other.
