OCONOMOWOC — The leadership at Lake Area Free Clinic is about to experience a major change, but the focus on the well-being of clients will remain. Longtime Executive Director Mary Reich is set to retire from the nonprofit on June 1 and will be replaced by Audra O’Connell, who has already immersed herself in its operations. Reich has been with LAFC since its opening night in July 2001 as a volunteer.

OCONOMOWOC — A building in downtown Oconomowoc that has sat vacant for years is about to get a major facelift inside and out when plans come to fruition for it to be turned into a public market containing several businesses, such as a bakery, a florist and a deli. Kim, Mike and Ken Herro want to transform the former Oconomowoc Enterprise building into a public market.

WAUKESHA — With a focus on creating a family atmosphere and with a commitment to community, a new restaurant will be opening in downtown Waukesha in the former location of Evolution Bar & Grill. Owners Henry Gacek and Joey Gudgeon said they hope to open the doors of Slice of Waukesha Pub & Eatery, 294 W. Main St., on June 1. They said the decision to switch from a bar to a restaurant after five years was because they wanted to create something that would be more of an asset to Waukesha.

OCONOMOWOC — As Costco begins to seek approvals from the city of Oconomowoc to build a location in Pabst Farms, the council on Tuesday discussed and approved an amendment to an ordinance that would increase the window of time that gas can be delivered to stations. It was at the request of Costco, which had a conditional use permit request on Wednesday’s Plan Commission agenda, to allow gasoline delivery and vehicle service for a longer period of time.
