Car crashes into building in central Columbia Police are searching for a driver who crashed into a building near Downtown Columbia late Wednesday night. The crash happened just after 10:30 p.m. at Broadway and Second Street at the Monarch Title building. Sgt. Shawn Claypool told ABC 17 News on scene that the driver that hit the building and another car drove away before officers got there. Claypool said the only damage to the building done was to the gutter.

Man charged after allegedly firing gun into multiple apartment walls Prosecutors charged a Columbia man Friday in connection with a shots fired incident and for having a stolen gun. Z’Kardia Williams, 19, was charged with two counts of armed criminal action, unlawful use of a weapon, misdemeanor fourth-degree assault, shooting at a building, resisting arrest and stealing. He is being held at the Boone County Jail without bond. A hearing has not been scheduled.

Boone County Sheriff’s Office warns of scam involving fake documents The Boone County Sheriff’s Office warned residents about a new scam involving fake documents to trick people into sending money. The Sheriff’s Office wrote in a Friday social media post that the scam involves someone sending fake copies of what appears to be a federal arrest warrant and a “mobile escort orders” document. According to the Sheriff’s Office, this is a new tactic that scammers are using.

Columbia police officers make two dozen arrests during MU’s ‘Reading Day’ Two dozen people were arrested Friday as parties were held during the University of Missouri’s Reading Day. Officers responded to 45 incidents in the East Campus neighborhood, according to the Columbia Police Department. Officers arrested 24 people and issued 25 summonses.

No injuries reported after food truck catches fire in Hallsville No one was injured after a food truck caught fire in Hallsville on Wednesday afternoon. The Boone County Fire Protection District responded to the scene, which was located in the Dollar General parking lot in the 400 block of Route B. The fire started around 3:20 p.m.According to Assistant Fire Chief Gale Blomenkamp, the owner of Trail Boss BBQ said the fire started after a generator backfired.
