The 78th Edinburgh International Film Festival (EIFF) will open with Eva Victor's acclaimed comedy drama Sorry, Baby. Victor's first directorial feature premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, where she won the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. Barry Jenkins has produced the film for A24. Jenkins previously won the Academy Awards for Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay for Moonlight (2016). He also produced Charlotte Wells' directorial debut Aftersun (2022).

Adam Pearson, best known for his performance in A Different Man, will play Joseph Merrick in an upcoming adaptation of The Elephant Man. The new film is not a remake of the David Lynch‘s 1980 feature, which received eight Academy Award nominations. This included one for John Hurt as Best Actor. Instead it offers a new interpretation of Bernard Pomerance's Tony-winning play of the same name.

Marvel Studios has released an official trailer The Fantastic Four: First Steps. The footage for the most recent adaptation of the Fantastic Four comic series was first shown during Disney's panel at Cinema-Con. It will introduce the beloved superhero team to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The cast includes Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
