(WIVB) — The Luna Lounge bar in Cheektowaga announced its permanent closure in a social media post on Thursday, which follows concerns from residents and an order by the town to shut down earlier this month. Residents voiced their concerns after shots were fired outside of the Dingens Street bar on April 28, along with instances of noise, people gathering outside of the bar, speeding in the area and dealing with overflow from the parking lot.

(WIVB) — The Providence Farm Collective (PFC) in Orchard Park filed an appeal last Thursday of a grant termination by the federal government, where it cited concerns of discriminatory practices associated with diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. The grant is for the collective’s Beginning Farmers and Ranchers Development Program and Incubator Farm Program, which provides farmland access, education, market access, shared equipment and resources to farmers.

(WIVB) — Students and faculty at University at Buffalo, among others, are filing a lawsuit against over 40 police officers, the City of Buffalo, and the president of UB alleging a “violent dispersal” of a pro-Palestine protest last May. On May 1, 2024, more than 50 students gathered in front of Hochstetter Hall for a peaceful protest against the war in Gaza including prayer, speeches and chants, according to the plaintiffs.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Acting Buffalo Mayor Chris Scanlon’s campaign, along with attorney Laurence Laufer, sent a letter to the New York State Board of Elections asking them to clarify contribution limits in State Senator Sean Ryan’s campaign for Buffalo mayor. In the letter, Laufer accused Ryan of a “sweeping evasion of election law limits” and asked the board to confirm if he is taking money from his senate campaign fund to his mayoral campaign.
