BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Local leaders will make an announcement Wednesday morning about the future of the former Westwood Country Club in Amherst, which has caused a lot of controversy over the years. The announcement is expected to bring new details about a “county-town partnership that will breathe new life” into the historic site. Amherst bought the 171-acre property on North Forest Road for $7.8 million in April 2023. The town has said the course property will be used for a public park.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — About 30 years after the Oklahoma City bombing, we look back at the tragedy and WNY’s connection to it: the bomber grew up here. At 9:02 a.m. on April 19, 1995, a bomb exploded at the Murrah Federal Building, killing 168 people, including 19 children. The bomber, Timothy McVeigh, grew up in Pendleton. And in the years following the attack, two Buffalo News reporters would be allowed access to him in federal prison, telling his story.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Diocese of Buffalo agreed to pay $150 million to settle over 800 claims of sexual abuse, sources confirmed to WIVB News 4 on Monday. The settlement follows years of efforts to reach an agreement of compensation for victims, and the Diocese’s bankruptcy filing in 2020. The claims were a large factor in the Diocese’s decision to close and merge churches across Western New York over the past year, along with declining number of priests and parishioners.

There's another air quality alert in effect right now, due to smoke from Canadian wildfires. And on #BuffaloBrief, we had a fascinating talk with a spokeswoman from the BLM/@NIFC_Fire to talk about the fires burning, wildfire trends and more: https://t.co/vdSDfI6FIG @DaveGreber4 https://t.co/MT1CdSEiKA
