O’FALLON, Mo. – A re-zoning proposal on 11 acres of land in O’Fallon, Missouri, is getting a lot of attention from neighbors. “My biggest issue as a parent, as a high school teacher, the fact that they want to put a Circle K literally at the corner of Knaust and Mexico,” said Amy Schwendemann. “It’s a super busy intersection as it is.”Schwendemann lives behind the 11-acre plot of land.

ST. LOUIS – Some seniors inside a St. Louis apartment building say they’re stranded after the elevator in their building started operating for an hour but is now broken again. Residents at Roosevelt Towne Apartments, located on Euclid near Delmar, said the elevators have not worked in nearly three weeks. Bertha Darty is 69 years old and relies on a walker to get around. “I cannot walk down the steps; I cannot stand up on my leg,” she said. Her husband, William Darty, is in his 70s.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The Emergency Operations team opened its center on Wednesday under a partial Level 2 activation. This was in anticipation of heavy flooding that was expected to affect certain areas of the St. Louis region. It was one last dog walk in the neighborhood before Joan Purk and others in the Highland Village Community hunkered down. Heavy rains are expected, and a level 2 emergency activation is in place.

ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. – St. Charles County residents got more information about radioactive exposure in Weldon Spring on Wednesday. Elected officials held a meeting to help provide more information about Senator Josh Hawley’s compensation bill. Hundreds of people came out to the meeting to hear from State Representative Tricia Byrnes about high levels of uranium in Weldon Spring despite cleanup efforts from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

LOUIS – Due to severe weather over the weekend, a local barbecue restaurant had to shut down, resulting in the loss of its entire inventory. “Hi, how you doing guys?” asks Madeline Zanti with Adam’s Smokehouse. The queue was full and bellies were left stuffed as customers stopped by for lunch at Adam’s Smokehouse on Wednesday. The BBQ restaurant first opened its doors in the fall of 2013 and has since built a reputation for exceptional meats served with a warm side of kindness.

ST. LOUIS – With the help of the city, artists can now apply for a grant totaling $3 million, the ARPA funds, made possible through the Regional Arts Commission. There is a program that is benefiting both arts organizations and local artists. This grant has been made possible due to the Arts Revenue and Income Replacement Grants, which are a part of the American Plan Rescue Act.
