BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — A Broken Arrow man accused of sexually abusing two children was sentenced to 20 years probation on Monday. Shawn Canady was arrested and charged back in 2021 after a parent told a Broken Arrow Public School counselor their child's classmate was being sexually abused. After being found guilty of both charges in September, the jury recommended a sentence of 20 years in the Oklahoma Department of Corrections for each count.

TULSA, Okla. — According to court documents, attorneys for the Juvenile Justice Center are arguing plaintiffs should have to use the initials of some of the juveniles alleging abuse from the facility and staff. The Juvenile Justice Center has been involved in a lawsuit following allegations of abuse by detainees. Two detention officers were arrested and charged earlier this year for either sexual abuse or misconduct with the inmates and smuggling contraband into the jail.

UPDATE (9/30/24) — The case against the former co-owner of a downtown Tulsa bar and restaurant was dismissed on Monday after he was arrested in April on several sex crime charges. Nabil Alame, who was the co-owner of The GOAT in downtown Tulsa before it closed in June, was arrested in April after several of his past employees came forward to police claiming he sexually assaulted, degraded and manipulated them.
