Schone will join the Raiders as a pitcher and utility player next spring. Schone said she is grateful for the opportunity to the play at the next level, while also staying in Michigan. “I’m really excited for this opportunity, as it’s something that not everybody gets to experience,” Shone said.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) - Harvey “Bucky” Johnson is stepping down as the head coach of Iron Mountain boys’ basketball, effective immediately. After taking over the program in 2000, Johnson amassed a 392-170 overall record and made two trips to the state title game in 2019 and 2021. His teams also won 17 conference championships during his tenure. He not only coached basketball but also spent the last 30 years coaching football and golf.

    MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC)—Westwood is set to open its 2024 season in less than two weeks, and things for the Patriots will be a little different this season as a new head coach takes over. Tyler Thomas, a 2014 graduate of Negaunee High School and St. Norbert Green Knight Alumni, will lead the Patriots this season. Thomas was most recently the head football coach at Ontonagon High School but moved to Westwood to be closer to home.

    NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WLUC) - Football is in the air at Miners Stadium. Negaunee began preseason practice Monday. The Miners will look to claim another conference title in 2024. They also want to make it back to Ford Field, where their season ended with a state runner-up finish two years ago. They’ll have to do so without some key players from 2023, like Kai Lacar, James Thomson and Evan Gauthier, who all graduated last spring.
