Belcourt man sentenced to 30 years for child sexual abuse

FARGO, ND (KXNET) — A Belcourt man has been sentenced to 30 years in federal prison on child sex charges. Cole Jeanotte, 41, was charged with Abusive Sexual Contact of a Minor Under 12 Years of Age in a case going back to 2012. In addition to the 30 years, Jeanotte will also be on 10 years of supervised release once he serves his jail sentence.
K9 'Koi' joins Burleigh County Sheriff's Department

BISMARCK, ND (KXNET) — The Burleigh County Sheriff’s K9 team is back to full strength with the addition of its newest member, Koi. Koi is one of the younger members of the K9 team at under two years old. He is a male Belgian Malinois, a breed often mistaken for German Shepherd. According to a post on the sheriff’s department Facebook page, Koi is partnered with Deputy Andrew Woodard. Both attended a 120-hour basic K9 course held out-of-state and returned late last month, ready to go.

That’s according to trade data from the International Trade Administration. Berthold Reservation was sentenced in court this week. 40-year-old Donavan White Owl was charged with murder and arson within Indian country. Investigators say in April of 2019, White Owl set fire to a home in Mandaree, which killed a woman inside. Judge Traynor sentenced him to 15 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
Minot man arrested on violence, restraint and terrorizing charges

MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Minot police have arrested a man in an April 15 assault that also involved restraint and terrorizing charges. According to information from the Minot Police Department, the assault victim arrived at the police department around 5:30 p.m., April 15, and told officers about being hit, strangled and held captive for roughly half the day. According to police, the victim had serious injuries consistent with the account of the attack.

LINCOLN, ND (KXNET) — Police routinely handle calls on loose dogs and cats. One call on April 13 required dealing with a loose muskrat in Lincoln. The story was posted on the Lincoln Police Department Facebook page. Officer Mark Thueson got the assignment that morning: A muskrat had fallen into the window well of a Lincoln residence and was unable to get out. Arriving on the scene, Thueson saw a small, brown muskrat at the bottom of a three-foot window well.

According to a police affidavit and various witnesses, around 8:34 a.m., April 11, the woman was driving a black pick-up truck in the 3300 block of 2nd Avenue West in what multiple witnesses described as a reckless and erratic manner.
