Port St. Joe High School track coach resigns amid student battery claims

GULF COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A track coach has resigned from Port St. Joe High School following allegations of battery on a student. According to the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office, deputies are investigating Keion McNair after they were made aware of the allegations on Thursday evening. Deputies wouldn’t comment anymore on their investigation. Gulf District Schools Superintendent Jim Norton said McNair tendered his resignation Friday morning.

A stroke occurs when a blood clot interrupts blood flow to the brain or a blood vessel in the brain bursts. In honor of Stroke Awareness Month, Ascension Sacred Heart Bay staff members visited various departments in the hospital to test their colleagues’ knowledge about strokes.

Panama City man killed, another injured in HWY 231 crash

JACKSON COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Panama City man was killed and another man was seriously injured after an early morning crash on Highway 231 in Alford on Monday. It happened shortly before 7 a.m. on Highway 231 near City Square Road. According to Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle driven by a 27-year-old Panama City man was headed southbound on Highway 231 when it collided with the back of another vehicle, before traveling off the roadway and becoming airborne. Troopers said the car then overturned.
Bay County man charged with murder in fatal shooting

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – A Bay County man is charged with an open count of murder after deputies said he shot and killed a woman Wednesday night. According to the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, the deadly shooting happened in the 15000 block of Pine Circle in the West Bay area. Deputies responded to the home in reference to a welfare check around 9:30 p.m. and shortly after found the shooting victim deceased in the bathroom with a gunshot wound.
Child care workers arrested, charged with child abuse

BLOUNSTOWN, Fla. (WMBB) – Two employees of an area childcare center have been arrested in connection with multiple incidents of child abuse. According to the Blountstown Police Department, officers began their investigation last week into suspected child abuse at North Florida Child Development Center off Tupelo Avenue, after supervisors of the center reached out to the department.

Bay county teacher encourages others to be mentors

BAY COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) – Christanna Dean has a passion for helping children. The Bay County preschool teacher is also a mentor with Big Brother Big Sisters of Northwest Florida. She’s a ‘big sister’ to Maddie. “My little sister is amazing,” said Christanna Dean. The two like to go window shopping, to farmers markets, and play board games. Dean said she questioned whether she would have the time to volunteer, but is so glad she reached out.
