MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVY) -A Dothan teacher claims school administrators put her life at risk by denying her access to the internet so she could monitor glucose readings. Jolie Cannon filed a federal lawsuit this month that claims the school system violated her rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Cannon, a Dothan High teacher since 1999, alleged her diabetes is so severe she must monitor blood sugar continuously using data transmitted via the internet or cellular service.

DALE COUNTY, Ala. (WTVY) - Former Dale County Sheriff Wally Olson died suddenly Wednesday morning of a heart condition. Coroner John Cawley confirmed the death. Olson was 53. Olson served 16 years as sheriff and was best remembered for his role in the Boy in the Bunker hostage crisis, where he helped free a five-year-old from an abductor. DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Dothan police identified the victim of a fatal Tuesday afternoon shooting as Brittney Henderson, a 39-year-old woman. “According to the preliminary investigation, Henderson was on her back porch when approached by the suspect, who only knew Henderson as a neighbor,” Chief William E. Benny said in a statement. He said that following a brief interaction the neighbor, 22-year-old Vincent Phillips, fired one round which killed Henderson. He then left the scene.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - Dothan police responded to the scene where a woman was reportedly shot and killed on Tuesday afternoon. Investigators rushed to the scene near Headland Avenue in Dothan after receiving word that she suffered a wound to her head. WTVY News4 is not releasing the exact location at this time. Officers immediately placed crime tape at the scene and began questioning witnesses. No additional information was immediately available.

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) -According to his acquaintances, longtime Enterprise police chief T.D. Jones died Sunday of an extended illness. Enterprise Mayor William Cooper also confirmed his death and reacted to the news by saying, “He reorganized our department and recruited good people. He’ll be missed. " Thomas D. Jones spent nearly 45 years as a first responder, beginning as an EMT and becoming a Montgomery police officer for about 22 years.
