Bay County deputies say they responded to a residential community earlier this month where they questioned the alleged victim, also a woman. Officers charged Latrance Battle with multiple crimes.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) - The bill to make Juneteenth a state holiday in Alabama is one step closer to passing as it has successfully advanced through the House. District 85 Representative Rick Rehm (R-Dothan) led the charge for House Bill 165. The bill aims to make the commemoration of when African American slaves learned of their emancipation in 1865 a state holiday. Similar efforts were attempted last session.

DOTHAN, Ala. (WTVY) -An Alabama Department of Public Affairs spokesperson said the agency won’t speculate about what caused a fire that displaced 90 veterans this week. Brandon Miller’s comments came on Friday, two days after a fire at CSM Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home in Enterprise continued to smolder. “I know there have been some reports out there of some unnamed sources and this is what caused it,” Brandon Miller said in an interview with WSFA television station.

ENTERPRISE, Ala. (WTVY) - The American Red Cross is among those in Enterprise chipping in to help first responders. Since Thursday morning, volunteers with the Red Cross have been there at the Command Sergeant Major Bennie G. Adkins State Veterans Home helping those fire crews, police, and other first responders who are still working to put the fire out. Thanks to mostly community donations, the Red Cross has been able to hand out snacks, drinks, and multiple meals a day to first responders.
