SEATTLE - After three months in office, Gov. Bob Ferguson's popularity has dipped among Democrats while rising with Republicans, according to a new statewide poll. Positive opinions among Democrats about the new governor fell from 65% in January to 47% in April, the DHM Research poll of 500 Washington residents found. By contrast, positive opinions among Republicans in the survey rose from 15% in January to 35% in April.

Last February, Traffic Lab’s Mike Lindblom reported a story about potholes on the I-5 Ship Canal Bridge. The update: Not much has changed. Some of what was learned almost a year ago: Crews have closed lanes 143 times in the last 5½ years to fill potholes; April 2024 would see WSDOT choose a winning bidder to resurface 4½ miles of the freeway; and the aging of the bridge was no surprise since the Ship Canal concrete is past a design life of 25 years. The last resurfacing took place in 1985.

Word had gotten out that someone was lying face down on the frozen lake. One parent even joked that “drinking” may have been involved. Soon, Pete Capponi took off his shoes, and like a benevolent giant, started gently stepping over train tracks and people, and avoided crashing into buildings en route to gently picking up the tiny figure who had been “ice skating,” and set them back up.

Before two Bruce Lee murals were unveiled this week by Lee’s daughter Shannon Lee and artist Louie Gong at the Wing Luke Museum, Shannon Lee told a small gathering she had not yet seen the finished works — only concept art. But she knew the two murals to be hung from different apartment buildings in Seattle’s Chinatown International District would be a different way of seeing her father, who had a long association with Seattle.
