    A 45-year-old Florida man died Saturday after being struck by a semitrailer truck on Nebraska 2 in Otoe County.  Keith Brown was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Otoe County Sheriff's Office. The incident occurred about 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Nebraska 2 and County Road 42. Investigators determined that Brown stopped his semi on the shoulder of the westbound lane on Nebraska 2 due to mechanical issues.

    A preliminary review of the police response to Sunday's fatal shooting at the Florence Tower apartments in Omaha found that the quick actions of the officers saved lives, Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer said. During an interview with detectives, Billy Dorrall, 50, allegedly provided a full confession to the shooting death of Eric Bechtolt and expressed his intent to kill additional residents and responding police officers had he not been stopped, according to a press release from Schmaderer.

    A 51-year-old man Carroll, Iowa, man was arrested Monday night after allegedly leaving the scene of a crash that left two people dead and another one critically injured. Elvin Castro, 17, and Pedro Castro, 56, both of Carroll, were pronounced deceased at the scene, according to a statement from the Iowa State Patrol. Carlos Castro, 24, also of Carroll, was flown by medical helicopter to a hospital in Des Moines.

    A 22-year-old woman died and a man was critically injured Monday afternoon in a one-vehicle crash north of the Village of Sutherland in western Nebraska.  Jade Torres of Sutherland was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office. The driver of the vehicle, Alexander Gomez, also of Sutherland, was located outside the wreckage and went by ambulance to a North Platte hospital.
