Shelter Island police announced the arrests of two teenagers for allegedly vandalizing a home on the island, with damages costing nearly $600,000. Police say a second home nearby was also broken into. It happened in April 2023 in the Silver Beach section of the island, on its southwest coast. The two arrested teenagers have been identified as Joshua Capobianco and John Schuster. Both are 18 years old and from Sayville. Three more suspects are being sought.

Security at Adventureland is being called into question following a stabbing inside the popular East Farmingdale amusement park. An Adventureland spokesperson tells News 12 bags are searched at the entrance, but there are no metal detectors. Long Islanders took to social media to express their concerns.

Fire officials: 4 dead, at least 9 injured after minivan crashes into Deer Park nail salonFire officials say at least four people are dead and at least nine are injured after a minivan crashed into a nail salon in Deer Park. Suffolk fire officials say the call came in around 4:30 p.m. for 796 Grand Blvd., which is the location for Hawaii Nail & Spa. The vehicle smashed through the front of the business and drove all the way to the back, slamming into people along the way.

Report: Potential ISIS-linked threat made against Cricket World Cup at Eisenhower Park •May 29, 2024, 12:33 AM•Updated 19 min agoA potential threat linked to the terrorist organization ISIS has been made against the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup at Eisenhower Park. The possible threat specifically cites the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, and mentions the date June 9, when the India-Pakistan match is scheduled to be played. News 12 has not independently verified the threat.

The home of suspected Gilgo Beach serial killer Rex Heuermann is being searched for a fifth straight day. Investigators were seen Friday removing a large object covered in a blue tarp. Earlier this week, police removed multiple boxes, household items, electronics and a large format printer. Heuermann’s home on First Avenue in Massapequa Park was initially searched by police in July of last year, following Heuermann’s arrest. The first search lasted nearly two weeks.
