Lawsuit against Perryton ISD for student sexual assault to continue

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - A case against Perryton ISD and its former athletic director will continue after mediation failed with the father of a girl the director sexually assaulted. Lawyers filed notice of the resolution failure on Tuesday. Cole Underwood is serving 30 years in federal prison after admitting to assaulting her in his office at least 10 times. The father filed the federal suit in August and legal wrangling has continued since then.
Potter County commissioners extend deadline to finish senior living center

AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Potter County commissioners voted Monday to give developers more time to finish an affordable senior living center on the North Side and an added financial boost. The deadline to finish the conversion of the former Saint Anthony’s Hospital on Amarillo Boulevard into The Commons at St. Anthony’s will move from the end of April to the end of August. A representative of the developer said the delay was caused by trouble getting electrical supplies like a generator.
Vesper Energy announces operation of solar facility near Tulia

TULIA, Texas (KFDA) - An international solar energy developer announced today the operation of one of the country’s largest facilities in Swisher County near Tulia. In a news release, Vesper Energy says the development has more than one million modules over six square miles. The Hornet Solar facility will contribute about $100 million in tax revenues to local taxing entities over its lifetime. Construction on the facility began in the fall of 2023. Copyright 2025 KFDA. Former Hutchinson County sheriff arrested, charged with stalking

MOORE COUNTY, Texas (KFDA) - The Moore County Sheriff’s Office confirmed its arrest of the former Hutchinson County Sheriff on Monday. The department said Blaik Kemp is in its jail on a charge of stalking. Kemp faces a $20,000 bond. According to the Texas Penal Code, the offense is a third-degree felony. Copyright 2025 KFDA. The father of the teen victim filed the suit saying it was well known at the district and Underwood’s former district, Amarillo ISD, that he had inappropriate relationships with minor female students.

HEREFORD, Texas (KFDA) - A federal judge in Washington, D.C. unsealed charges today against two Hereford men linked to the January 6, 2021 conflict at the US Capitol. Donald Workman and John Clark are charged with six charges including assaulting or resisting officers, entering restricted space and acts of violence on the Capitol grounds.
