The summer testing window for IREAD-3 is now open for third grade students who did not pas the reading assessment in March. Students will have two opportunities to take the test again before they could be held back in the third grade. A new law makes few exceptions for third graders who do not pass the state's reading assessment. While IREAD data will not be publicly available until August, there are early, positive signs at Concord Community Schools.

There will soon be a new Christian high school opening in St. Joseph County. A long time Pre-K through 8th grade school is expanding. Covenant Christian School will launch a high school program in the fall, and has set a goal of enrolling at least 50 students for the first year. The school year is almost over for Covenant Christian students.

Covenant Christian School in Mishawaka is expanding. The Pre-K through 8th grade school is launching its secondary programming for the 2025-26 school year. Enrollment has already begun. Gracie Moore is just about to finish 8th grade at Covenant Christian School and she is looking forward to summer.

Even children with 20/20 vision can struggle with something called visual processing delays. It can impact reading, writing and language. First grader Jesse Cross looks just like other kids his age, but he has been struggling with something no one else can see.

Fulton and Marshall County Police say there are no damage reports after a tornado warning was issued there this afternoon.
