SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — An early morning fire at Matunuck Oyster Bar in South Kingstown left the local staple heavily damaged. Firefighters responding to the scene on Succotash Road around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday found heavy fire and smoke coming from the restaurant. Union Fire District of South Kingstown Chief Steven Pinch said strong winds fueled the flames, which spread to the building’s “void spaces.” Despite those challenges, crews were able to get the fire under control in about 90 minutes.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Hemp-derived THC drinks are popping up in stores across the state. It's a non-alcoholic beverage that can still give you a buzz, and now lawmakers are considering two bills on the topic. House Bill 6270 would ban the sales altogether, and House Bill 6056, co-sponsored by State Rep. Jacquelyn Baginski of Cranston, would regulate how they are sold.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) - Rep. Seth Magaziner and more than a dozen lawmakers called for a vote that would prevent members of Congress from trading stocks. Magaziner and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Texas, introduced the TRUST in Congress Act earlier this year, which would stop congressional stock trading. The legislation would either prohibit elected officials and their immediate family members from trading stocks or require them to shift their investments to a qualified blind trust while in office.

It’s REAL ID enforcement day! I’m told a majority of travelers at T.F. Green have their REAL IDs this morning or are prepared with their passports. Homeland security says you can still travel without a REAL ID for now, but be prepared for extra steps during security. @wpri12 https://t.co/yftm0QJBYq
