Quality Metalcraft, a supplier of parts to the automotive and aerospace industries, laid off 41 workers in Sterling Heights and Livonia due to financial trouble and reduced business. The Livonia-based company made the cuts April 21, according to a WARN notice filed with the state April 22 and posted publicly Thursday. It represents a 12% headcount reduction for the supplier, which employed 351 people before the layoffs.

Automate, the largest robotics show in North America, returns to Huntington Place in downtown Detroit next week, where it will find a market hungry for automation.
