LIVONIA, MI – A 31-year-old man was shot by a Metro Detroit police officer on Friday after a confrontation at a local business and taken to a nearby hospital. The Livonia Police Department responded to the report of a man with a gun near Middlebelt and Five Mile roads at around 2:10 p.m. Friday, June 6. According to a news release, the report indicated the man was behaving erratically while brandishing a gun.

MENOMINEE, MI – The body of the 42-year-old woman whose disappearance prompted a days-long search by an Upper Peninsula lighthouse last winter has been found. Lisa Janine Pipp, of Greendale, Wisconsin, was reported missing Jan. 13 after an incident on the ice of Green Bay when police said she walked away from an argument with her boyfriend and toward open water.

BLACKMAN TOWNSHIP, MI – A 22-year-old Jackson man has been arrested in connection to an early morning shooting on Wednesday. Police were originally called shortly before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 4, to a home in the 100 block of Peacock Walk in Blackman Township for a reported shooting when a 16-year-old boy was found breathing but unresponsive. Suffering from a gunshot wound to the head, the youth was later taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital in critical condition.

ALLEGAN COUNTY, MI - Three potential exposures sites have been named in connection to a case of the measles discovered in Allegan County. The county health department confirmed the case of the highly contagious disease on Friday, June 6. According to a news release, the local agency was working with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to investigate the case in a push to prevent others from popping up.

AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP, MI – Lincoln Consolidated Schools will soon search for a new superintendent. Bob Jansen, who’s been the district’s superintendent for the last five years, last month announced his intent to retire at the end of this school year. In the message, which was sent to LCS community members May 20, Jansen wrote the decision came “with mixed emotions,” having told the Lincoln School Board at a meeting the previous night. Now, school board members are gearing up to find a replacement.
