AbstractGenome-wide association studies (GWAS) identify genetic variants underlying complex traits but are limited by stringent genome-wide significance thresholds. We present GRIN (Gene set Refinement through Interacting Networks), which increases confidence in the expanded gene set by retaining genes strongly connected by biological networks when GWAS thresholds are relaxed. GRIN was validated on both simulated interrelated gene sets as well as multiple GWAS traits.

In geometrically frustrated assemblies local intersubunit misfits propagate to intra-assembly strain gradients, giving rise to anomalous self-limiting assembly thermodynamics. Here we use theory and coarse-grained simulation to study a recently developed class of “curvamer” particles, flexible shell-like particles that exhibit self-limiting assembly due to the build up of curvature deformation in cohesive stacks.

Correction to: Nature Medicine https://doi.org/10.1038/s41591-024-02839-5, published online 1 March 2024In the version of the article initially published, the pipeline for the cross-ancestry meta-analysis did not accurately code some SNPs such that they were not combined despite being the same polymorphism. To fix this, we correctly annotated the rsIDs for the summary statistics from each ancestry and meta-analyzed them based on the unique rsID for each polymorphism.
