GARDENDALE, Ala. — Portions of Decatur Highway were closed Monday morning following a significant crash involving a Jefferson County School bus and another vehicle. The collision occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Moncrief Road. The school bus sustained damage to its driver's side wheel and front headlight, while the other vehicle involved suffered major front-end damage. Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Gardendale police responded to the accident.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — No one was injured after a house fire broke out in the 500 block of North Drive near the Roebuck Springs area. The incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. when reports of heavy smoke prompted a swift response from fire personnel. Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel say firefighters managed to control the blaze within minutes. The home was occupied at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Shatice Jackson, the woman accused of killing a man with her car on Sunday night, made her first court appearance today. Jackson is facing a charge of capital murder. According to BPD the victim is identified as 27-year-old Mickese James Bostic. Jackson is said to have children with Bostic. During the hearing, Jackson informed Judge William Bell that her mother had secured an attorney for her, though she did not provide a name.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) is taking steps to regulate student transfers in high school athletics. This month, the board approved the formation of a task force dedicated to collecting transfer data to identify non-compliant transfer students in the state. A student can be non compliant if not meeting all of the regulations laid out in the AHSAA handbook.
