According to his brother Toby, who lives in Colchester and was only two years younger, Rob was in the prime of his life, building a career alongside university studies and busy being “ridiculously good at any sport and a great drummer and musician.” The following ten months changed everything, after Rob was diagnosed with late stage cancer.

    An Essex boy was left in "constant pain" and "unable to sit down" due to a tumour. Jacob Bird, 16, was diagnosed with a perianal haemangioma - a benign tumour growth made of extra blood vessels in the skin around his lower back and spinal area - when he was just six months old. He spent the next eight years as an outpatient at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) undergoing regular MRI scans - while they monitored his growth as it shrunk naturally over time.
