THE CEDARS, Calif. — Crews are searching for three people who entered a body of water in Placer County on Wednesday and did not resurface, the sheriff's office says. Crews responded to the possible drowning in the area of Heath Falls in Soda Springs just before 3 p.m.The Placer County Sheriff's Office said the terrain they are searching is extremely remote and difficult to access, which makes the rescue effort challenging.

Bethlehem Mayor J. William Reynolds said it has been a “troubling week” for the city in the wake of a federal immigration raid that detained 17 workers at the fire-damaged Five 10 Flats. The city has gotten “no information and no answers” from ICE about why the workers were detained, Reynolds said, as activists at a City Council meeting called on officials to do more to try and return the arrested workers.
