NORWALK — A Connecticut woman facing dozens of animal cruelty charges has been arrested again in the city where she used to live, police said Friday. Sarah Smolak, 28, who lived in Norwalk until a few months ago, was charged in April by Winchester police with dozens of counts of animal cruelty in connection with her care of 27 dogs in that town. Those animals were seized from her Winsted home in March, officials said.

HARTFORD - A woman was shot and a man was stabbed when a melee erupted during a funeral service in a city church Friday, police said. Both are expected to recover from their injuries, Lt. Aaron Boisvert said. He said the woman was grazed by the bullet. Police were called to the Gospel Lighthouse Apostolic Church in the 2000 block of Main Street about 10 a.m. When officers arrived, the woman who was shot had already left the scene and was driven to the hospital.

NORTH HAVEN - Police say a Wallingford man has been arrested after repeatedly peeping into a bedroom window. Shawn Cornell, 48, was charged with voyeurism with malice, second-degree stalking and breach of peace Thursday after two young women reported seeing a man looking through their bedroom window on Washington Avenue, police said. The incident was captured on exterior video footage and the victims reported that the peeping has occurred several times in the past, police said.
