More than 7,600 people in at least six states and Washington D.C. so far have been tied to Operation Nightingale - a massive federal investigation of nearly two dozen nursing schools in Florida that are accused of providing fraudulent diplomas and transcripts.

In January 2023, federal authorities in southern Florida announced charges against more than two dozen people accused of running a nursing fraud scheme. Prosecutors allege the group sold more than 7,600 "bogus" diplomas to nursing students through three Florida schools. All three institutions have since closed, the U.S. attorney's office said.
