STAMFORD — A Stamford teen would serve 25 years in prison for felony murder as part of an offer made by the state in a case tied to the home invasion killing of a 32-year-old man on the city’s East Side last May. Daniel Cummings, assistant state’s attorney for the Stamford/Norwalk judicial district, said the deal — if accepted — would mean Rudi Reyna-Morales, 17, would serve 25 years in prison if he pleads guilty to felony murder.

STAMFORD — Mayor Caroline Simmons is looking to give the city’s Police Commission a major facelift — one she said she hopes will give a voice to communities that have felt unheard. Tim Abazzia, Robert Figueroa, Sukie McFadden and Frank Mercede will be replaced by Dorye Jackson, Roberto Aveiro, Michael Fedele and Erik Findeisen if Simmons’ appointments are all approved by the Board of Representatives next month.

STAMFORD - The driver in a hit-and-run that killed a 74-year-old pedestrian in 2023 pleaded guilty Wednesday to negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and evading responsibility. Salvatore Longo pleaded guilty at state Superior Court in Stamford, where his sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 14. He is expected to be sentenced to six years in prison under the terms of a plea deal, according to his lawyer, Lindy Urso.
