MILFORD - A jury of six women and six men found Jose Morales guilty of murder and tampering with physical evidence in the 2019 killing of Ansonia mom Christine Holloway Tuesday after deliberating for about two hours. The verdict came on the 11th day of Morales' trial at state Superior Court in Milford, which began April 7. As the jury foreperson announced the verdicts Tuesday, Holloway's family sobbed quietly in the first row with their arms around each other's shoulders.

MILFORD - Jose Morales took the stand Wednesday in his murder trial and claimed at least two other people killed Christine Holloway and kidnapped their daughter in 2019. Morales, taking the stand in his own defense on the eighth day of his murder trial in the 2019 killing of the Ansonia mom, said he spent time earlier that weekend with a friend with whom he smoked a marijuana blunt laced with PCP earlier and later got two bags of the drug.

NEW HAVEN - A teenager died after a shooting near Legion Avenue Tuesday, according to the New Haven Police Department. In a 3:20 p.m. post to X, formerly Twitter, the department said officers were with a shooting victim. New Haven police Officer Christian Bruckhart said the shooting occurred on Greenwood Street near Legion and Sylvan avenues. At 4:20 p.m., Bruckhart confirmed the investigation was a homicide. Police later added that the victim was a 15-year-old boy.
