Ewen Dewitt, 45, of Roxbury, pleaded guilty to murder and risk of injury to a child in March as part of a plea offer from Judge Kevin Russo for a 40-year prison sentence.

    HARTFORD - A man who was shot and wounded by a Bristol officer after stealing a police cruiser was sentenced Tuesday to more than six years behind bars. Jimmie Shoemaker-Gonzalez, 42, was sentenced Tuesday to serve six years and nine monthsin prison followed by three years of probation by Judge David P. Gold at state Superior Court in Hartford, with the possibility of an additional eight years and three months in prison if he were to violate terms of his release.
