    Around 10:40 a.m. Thursday, first responders received reports of a crash on Railroad Avenue, just north of Oak Ridge Drive in Newhall, said Geovanni Sanchez, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Fire Department. A solo vehicle crashed into a light pole before hitting a tree, according to officials on scene. The pole temporarily blocked the far right northbound lane of Railroad Avenue, according to officials on scene. “No persons were trapped,” Sanchez said.

    Ozie, a DJ and Canyon Country resident, had his catalytic converter stolen from his work van over the weekend near Soledad and Sand Canyon Roads in Canyon Country. Around 7 a.m. Sunday, Ozie’s wife returned home from a walk and heard the sound of sawing coming from outside, Ozie told KHTS. “At first, she assumed it was the construction workers across the street,” Ozie said. However, once she looked outside, she saw men in masks removing the catalytic converter from Ozie’s work van.

    Between Friday, May 23 and Monday, May 26, 43 arrests were made by deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office. Some of the notable arrests over the weekend included two fathers, one from Lancaster and one from Pacoima, who were both arrested by the CHP in separate incidents for allegedly driving drunk with young children as passengers, according to CHP officials.

    Just before 9 a.m. Tuesday, a brush fire was reported in the wash near Orchard Village Road and Wiley Canyon Road in Newhall, according to officials with the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Fire officials reported a 30 foot fire burning in the wash. Within minutes of arrival, firefighters had forward progress of the fire stopped.
