Ruben Correa II, 50, from Chino Hills, was the man who died in a construction workplace accident on Avenue Penn in Valencia, said Kelly Vail, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office. Just before 12:20 p.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a man who was run over by a water truck, said Officer Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office.

Around 12:18 p.m. Tuesday, first responders received reports of a construction worker who fell off a truck on Avenue Penn in Valencia at a construction site, said Carlos Burgos-Lopez, spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office. The construction worker was declared deceased on scene, according to Burgos-Lopez. The identity of the victim was not released pending the next of kin.

Around 10 a.m. Tuesday, deputies received reports of shots fired in the 23000 block of Drayton Street in Saugus, according to officials of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station. Deputies located and detained an individual at Bouquet Canyon Road and Magic Mountain Parkway, however, they were later released, according to officials on scene. No injuries were reported. Ed. This year’s show includes hundreds of Santa Clarita home and garden vendors, local crafters, food trucks and a free butterfly exhibit courtesy of Gilchrist Farm and sponsored by Santa Clarita Water. Visitors will be handed a feed stick as they enter a large tent filled with over 1000 butterflies. The show will also feature local crafters who will be selling their creations for inside your home or in your yard. The show also features a dozen food trucks.

Deputies with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station, and officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office made 30 arrests, five more from the previous weekend. Some of the notable arrests included 14 DUI, and two bookings for drugs being brought into the jail. Other charges included two misdemeanors of battery on a former spouse, and one felony count of domestic violence. Of the 30 arrests, 19 were for residents who live in the Santa Clarita Valley.
