Following the discovery of serious damage to a culvert at Elder Lake and the closure of Synergy Boulevard, the Kilgore City Council is discussing options for repairing what has been described as “catastrophic” damage at the beloved local scenic spot. “Back in October, a sinkhole was discovered and settling in the sidewalk and culvert at Synergy Boulevard and Elder Lake,” Director of Public Works Clay Evers told council members.

City of Kilgore has announced the next step in its years-long effort to repair, rebuild and renovate the city’s aging streets and traffic infrastructure with a project focused on a stretch of Commerce Street. “This is a project we’ve been talking about for a long time,” Clay Evers, the city’s director of public works, told council members at a recent meeting.

Many things have changed in the last 20 years, but through it all, Kilgore Public Library’s Blanca Amaro has been steadfast in her dedication to this city and its people, bringing the magic of reading to new generations of book lovers. Amaro, KPL’s reference librarian, was applauded at a recent city council meeting on the occasion of her retirement after 20 years of service at the library.

KILGORE - Three decades of service in law enforcement is no easy feat but Kilgore Police Department Investigator Angela Burch takes it all in stride, with her love of and dedication to this community making her an essential part of everything that is Kilgore. KPD Chief Todd Hunter and Assistant Chief Johnathan Gage presented Burch with a 30-year service pin and certificate at a recent council meeting as many of Burch's fellow officers and the city council gave a standing ovation.
