JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - Poplar Bluff Golf already owned the state record for a Par-71 course. They didn’t just narrowly beat that mark Monday, they shattered it. Poplar Bluff took home the team title at the Jackson Invitational at Kimbeland Country Club, with a score of 277, -7 under par as a team. The Mules owned the prior record of 283, a mark they set last year before winning the state championship.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The preparations for the Rowdy Bowl are in their final stages, with just one practice left ahead of the big game. SEMO Football practiced Monday morning, ahead of the draft for Rowdy Bowl II. Rowdy Bowl is SEMO’s take on a spring game, ditching the offense vs. defense format in favor of two complete teams with their own offenses, defenses and special teams. Redhawks Head Coach Tom Matukewicz explained how teams are set. “We split the staff,” Matukewicz said.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - SEMO Baseball will honor former head coach Mark Hogan by retiring his jersey next month. The Redhawks announced Monday that the May 3 game against Tennessee Tech will be known as “Mark Hogan Day.” During the game, the Redhawks will retire Hogan’s No. 29 jersey. Hogan is the all-time winningest head coach in SEMO history, accumulating 526 victories in his 18 years as head coach.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - SEMO blasted five balls out of Capaha Field Saturday, securing an 11-1 run rule victory in the eighth inning over Lindenwood. Leading the way for the Redhawks was junior Cole Warehime. Warehime went 4-5 on Saturday, April 19, with two home runs on the day. In addition to Warehime, Michael Mugan, Bryce Cannon, and Liam Forsyth also homered, with Forsyth’s two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth clinching a run-rule victory.

With the first win of the doubleheader, Redhawks head coach Mark Redburn took home his 500th victory as a college baseball head coach, part of a head coaching career that’s included stops at St. Charles Community College, Jefferson College, and Evansville.
