CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - SEMO Baseball retired a jersey for the first time in program history on Saturday. Mark Hogan’s No. 29 jersey was retired at Capaha Field Saturday, in a presentation honoring the former Indians and Redhawks head coach, part of “Mark Hogan Day” at the ballpark. Hogan’s number was put onto a plaque, adorning the side of SEMO Baseball’s indoor facility, which borders the far left wall at Capaha Field.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Jackson and Cape Central will contest the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament championship game. The 4-seed Indians defeated top-seeded Poplar Bluff, 3-0, Saturday morning at Cape Central High School. For the Indians, it’s a fourth-straight finals appearance, and a chance to win a fourth-straight tournament title. In the 11:30 a.m. contest, 3-seed Cape Central defeated 2-seed Sikeston, 14-6. It’s Cape Central’s first title game appearance since 2008.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Cape Central progressed to the semifinals of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament, holding off Notre Dame 4-2, Friday. The Tigers were tied with the Bulldogs at 2 before Christian McNew’s RBI single gave Cape a one-run lead. Notre Dame then had a chance for an out at first, but a dropped ball allowed McNew to make it back for the Tigers’ fourth run.

JACKSON, Mo. (KFVS) - Saxony Lutheran took home a huge victory Thursday night, beating Lutheran St. Charles in volleyball in straight sets. The Crusaders got a preview of their contest early in the afternoon, as Lutheran St. Charles also battled Notre Dame earlier in the evening. Notre Dame came out slow in set 1, falling fast to the Cougars 23-13.

SIKESTON, Mo. (KFVS) - After 18 holes of golf in the muggy southeast Missouri heat, four golfers were yet to be separated. But a playoff hole later, only one remained standing as champion of the SEMO Conference. Jimmy Williams delivered a clutch birdy on the first playoff hole, to win the SEMO Conference Tournament. The Jackson sophomore, in his first full year on varsity, reflected on the final moments of Wednesday’s competitions.
