The Aurora Police Department said 37-year-old Danielle Smith was shot while in bed after midnight on Thursday. NewsNation affiliate KDVR spoke with Smith, who was watching television with her dog when she heard multiple popping sounds. At first, she didn’t think she was shot. “My shoulder felt like it exploded, my whole arm was just on fire,” said Smith.
