From elementary to junior high, O’Fallon District 90 schools will see administration changes this fall. Mara Hamilton, who is currently an assistant principal at Carriel Junior High, will be the next principal of Hinchcliffe Elementary. Mascoutah teacher Michelle Jackson will take the assistant principal position left vacant by Hamilton’s move, the district recently announced. Students at Fulton Junior High School will also see new leadership next school year.

Southwestern Illinois College is adding a new skilled trade programming to its Red Bud campus with a new 7,800 square-foot Career Technology Education building. Construction begins in early June, and students are set to start using the CTE building in Spring 2026. The $5.5 million project, financed through bonds sold a few years ago, will house welding and industrial electricity programming, plus forklift training.

Seventeen-year-old Cadence Eileen Prince, who went by her middle name at school, was supposed to start her first job Thursday. The O'Fallon Township High School junior had a lot to be excited about, her mother Victoria Dimmitt said. There was her job at a Cracker Barrel restaurant, new friends and the independence that came with her first car. Prince was also starting to think about her future.

The O'Fallon teenager charged with murder in the stabbing death of his girlfriend told responding police officers "I killed her" but later told police that she stabbed herself. Julian G. Holloway's contradictory statements were revealed Thursday during a detention hearing in which the 18-year-old was remanded to the St. Clair County Jail until his trial on his charge of murder/intent to kill/injure.
