Seventeen-year-old Cadence Eileen Prince, who went by her middle name at school, was supposed to start her first job Thursday. The O'Fallon Township High School junior had a lot to be excited about, her mother Victoria Dimmitt said. There was her job at a Cracker Barrel restaurant, new friends and the independence that came with her first car. Prince was also starting to think about her future.

Holloway's contradictory statements were revealed Thursday during a detention hearing in which the 18-year-old was remanded to the St. Clair County Jail until his trial on his charge of murder/intent to kill/injure.

CASEYVILLE — A man died Tuesday following a dog attack in Caseyville, according to police. The incident involved three pit bulls, Caseyville Police Chief Woodrow Hall said. Kent P. Recklein, 67, a resident of Caseyville, was pronounced deceased at the scene at 2:14 p.m. Tuesday, St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. said. Police responded to a call reporting the attack at approximately 2 p.m., Hall said.
