This is a map included in the meeting packet for Swansea Village Board members who approved a pre-annexation agreement Monday with Triple Lakes Farm LLC for about 306 acres at the intersection of Frank Scott Parkway and Union Hill Road/Sullivan Drive. The final layout of the site has not been released but developers want to build stores, restaurants, apartments, duplexes, villas and single-family homes.

Standing ovations punctuated the Swansea Village Board meeting Monday night as three young brothers and three police officers were honored for their roles in rescuing a man trapped in a burning home last month. The boys, all brothers, were recognized for asking their neighbor to call 911 when they saw smoke coming from another neighbor's home on March 28 in the 300 block of Marla Kay Drive near Centennial Park.

Five cities in St. Clair County will get a share of a $30 million in federal grants to help in disaster recovery efforts from flooding in July 2022, U.S. Rep. Nikki Budzinski (D-Springfield) announced Thursday. This aid is separate from the $89.5 million St. Clair County received in January for disaster recovery from flooding in July 2024.

Metro-east residents can expect a stormy ride Wednesday afternoon. The National Weather Service has placed the metro-east under a tornado watch until 4 p.m.A system of thunderstorms has already produced tornadoes in Missouri on Wednesday morning, the weather service said. "Severe thunderstorms" are possible Wednesday across parts of the St. Louis region, including the metro-east from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., according to the forecast from the weather agency.

The Columbia Police Department released this photo Friday after investigators were able to identify Carol Hemphill as the deceased person found in a creek bed nearly 23 years ago. She is holding her daughter Catricia. Columbia Police Department Carol Hemphill told her daughter on a July evening in 2001 she was going to the store after dinner, according to her husband. Her family never saw her again.
