ST. MARYS, Pa. (WTAJ) — A group in Elk County is working to bring smiles to their community through acts of kindness. Those acts go a long way. Just ask the ladies at Goetz’s Flowers in St. Marys who just recently got a gift that made them smile. “They brought us a little sun catcher,” Tonya Crissman, from Goetz’s Flowers, said. “It’s so cool that the kids are being part of the community and reaching out.”Sarah Reedy and Avy Keiper are summer workers at St. Marys Public Library.

(WTAJ) — In 2019, after scrolling on social media, Cindy Bowman had an idea to create the Central PA Nurses Honor Guard. “It’s very similar to how the military, firemen and police honor their people,” Bowman, Founder and president of the group, said. “We just thought nurses are deserving of it too.”The group is dedicated to honoring nurses who have gone before them. It started with just five members and it has now grown to almost 50.

BLAIR COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — DelGrosso’s Park is celebrating National Carousel Day with a very special treat for parkgoers this year for the Herschell-Spillman Carousel’s 100th Birthday. On July 25, the park will be offering free rides all day on the antique carousel. They’ll also have free giveaways and there will be a chance for some lucky ducks to win two amazing carousel-themed raffle baskets. The carousel is the pride and joy of the park and it sits in the middle of all the action.

A movement that all started because Makenzie Baranik cares. “I am just blown away by her generosity,” Ryan Baranik, Makenzie’s dad, said. “She has a heart of gold.”“I think I got my kind heart from both of my parents,” Makenzie expressed. Making the summertime favorite drink is something she and her dad enjoy. So, a few years ago, the two decided to start a simple lemonade stand.
