Music festivals can be a challenge when you have chronic conditions such as COPD. Here’s how to prepare for one so you can possibly avoid an exacerbation. I started covering music when I was just 17 years old. I was at the right place, at the right time, and was thrown into the front row with press passes. I had a lot of great experiences, including going backstage with the Beach Boys and having a 1 a.m. dinner with Pat Benatar in her trailer between takes while shooting one of her videos.

A few years ago, I had a wine tasting and dinner with friends at Cooper’s Hawk in Indianapolis. It was my first experience at one of their restaurants and it was a great one. I was recently invited back to check out a contest they were running. This time I went to the Springfield, Illinois, location. It was larger than I had remembered the other had been. I found a lot had changed with the brand, and all of the changes were positive.

This trip was hosted. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. A cruise is a wonderful way to see many different places while unpacking once. That becomes especially important when you are traveling in a wheelchair. When I wanted to see as much of Alaska as possible, I chose to cruise on Princess. I still needed accessibility off the ship, and I found plenty to do in a wheelchair during my day in Skagway. I found Skagway to be one of the most picturesque towns in Alaska.

It was the final day of the Bourbon & Beyond Festival, and I was ready for an exciting one, with interviews to do and bands new and old to see. My brother, Mark, and I checked out of our wheelchair accessible room at the Tru Hilton Louisville South and headed to the Kentucky Exhibition Center. The weather was still warm and humid, but it looked like we might be heading for some rain. One of the acts I was most looking forward to was first up at Bourbon & Beyond.

This trip was hosted. All opinions expressed are entirely my own. As a wheelchair user, I wanted to see Alaska (my 50th state), but I felt concerned about its accessibility. I decided the best way to go was on a cruise. I chose Princess as it is known for providing those with mobility issues plenty of options. Our stop in Ketchikan proved challenging. I still found a way to enjoy the day on my mobility scooter.
