MIDDLEBURG — A Snyder County judge has agreed to withdraw from overseeing an assault case after rejecting a plea deal that the alleged victim said was too lenient. Snyder County public defender Jasmin Smith filed a motion Tuesday requesting Judge Lori R. Hackenberg recuse herself from the case involving Ronald A. Childress Jr., 45, of Shamokin Dam. KREAMER — A portion of Pawling Station and Freeburg roads will be closed for several days in June for a $3.4 million railroad crossing replacement project. Beginning Tuesday, June 3, 2025, through Tuesday, June 10, Pawling Station Road will be closed while the contractor replaces the railroad crossing.
