Several weeks after published reports suggested that the federal government was considering selling hundreds of federal buildings, the General Services Administration confirmed it was reviewing the property for potential "disposal."Among the 440-plus buildings listed is the Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building, which sits at the corner of Lakeside and East 9th, across from Willard Park and Cleveland City Hall. The building has nearly 1.2 million square feet of space.

The Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) may try to sell at least 500 federally-owned buildings as it continues its efforts to make deep cuts in government spending, Wired magazine reported. If the plan is implemented, a handful of buildings in Ohio—including Cleveland's Anthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building—may be affected. Of the 14 federally owned buildings in the city listed on the General Services Administration website, 10 are courthouses.
