WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) – Electrical crews are still repairing the downed powerlines caused by Saturday’s windstorm and grassfires. Most of the damage occurred north of Wheelock between Highway 85 and Tioga according to Mountrail-Williams Electric Cooperative general manager Alex Vournas. “At the height of it, we had about 1700 without power and we’re down to 340. About 80 of those are residential services, and we think we’ll have power back on to them within the next three days,” said Vournas.

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - A man who pleaded guilty to shooting his wife in 2022 has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Jacob Long was charged with murder, terrorizing and criminal trespass after killing 30-year-old Megan Lindquist. Long originally pleaded not guilty before changing his plea in January ahead of a jury trial. Assistant States Attorney Nathan Madden requested a life sentence and Long’s attorney, Jeff Nehring, did not oppose.

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - The Williston Water World project has officially broke ground. The Williston Community Builders’ Pool Action Committee held a ceremony Friday, celebrating the event. Members of the committee said construction will start next week, focusing on the structure of the pool with a shelter to protect it. Phase one of the project includes a zero-depth pool, a lazy river and two water slides. It’s expected to be completed in May 2025.

Looking to help those impacted, one man working in Sidney, Montana recently went out to the worn-torn country to offer his medical services. It’s been 511 days since Russia first attacked Ukraine, resulting in thousands of deaths, many more injured, and millions displaced. Flight paramedic Griffin Nelson knew he wanted to help.
