WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Katie Ledecky is a 14-time Olympic medalist in swimming, with nine gold. The accomplished swimmer has connections to Williston through her grandparents, Kathleen Hagan and the late Dr. Edward J. Hagan. The Hagans have a significant place in Williston’s history. Dr. Hagan founded the Craven-Hagan Clinic and helped promote and build the first indoor pool in town, which was named in his honor.

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - Bismarck High standout Jersey Berg announced she will continue her basketball career at Williston State College next year. Berg is a two-time all-conference selection and was chosen all-state this year. She and the Demons finished second at the state tournament this year. Berg averaged 14 points per game as well as 5 rebounds and 2.3 assists.

WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) - This weekend will be the biggest moment in Women’s Basketball history as the Final Four and national championship take place starting tonight. For female players at Williston State College, like Mon-Dak Conference MVP Taylor Moffat, the rise in popularity has been exciting. “The brand of basketball we’re seeing is incredible,” said Moffat. The first game Friday has North Carolina State taking on top-seeded South Carolina.

MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – Watford City’s Jessica Mogen was named Girl’s Division A Senior Athlete of the Year, at the conclusion of the Girl’s A State Tournament. Mogen scored more than 1,000 points in her career and averaged nearly 20 points per game. Mogen committed to play basketball at Minot State, where she’ll play alongside her sister Emma Mogen. Other finalists included Valley City’s Tesa Olson, Thompson’s Sidney Schwabe and Bottineau’s Kylie Simpson.
