SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – SU is losing its top returning receiver to the transfer portal. Trebor Pena has decided to leave the program after spending the last five years at Syracuse. Last season, he led the Orange in receptions (84) and receiving touchdowns (9). Pena also was the team’s primary punt returner, so his departure will be felt both on offense and on special teams. Fran Brown had announced in December that Pena would serve as a team captain in 2025.

TAMPA BAY, F.L. (WSYR-TV) – 20-year-old rookie Conor Geekie scored in his first game back with Tampa Bay on Sunday, helping the Lightning to a 7-4 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Baldwinsville native Alex Tuch scored his 35th goal of the season for the Sabres in the loss. Geekie has seven goals, and six assists in 50 games with the Lightning this season. Since March 1st, Geekie has produced points in 11 of his 16 games played with the Syracuse Crunch.
#1 Cornell holds off #4 Syracuse down on Long Island

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Top-ranked Cornell used a six-goal run in the first half, and never looked back defeating #4 Syracuse 17-12 in men’s lacrosse action on Saturday. The Big Red have now won six straight games. CJ Kirst and Ryan Goldstein combined for 16 points. Kirst led the way with five goals. He’s now five goals away from tying the NCAA all-time goals record. Owen Hiltz paced the Orange attack with four goals, and two assists. Cornell has won three straight games over Syracuse.
Syracuse crunch wins sixth straight game

SYRACUSE N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Crunch rallied for a 1-0 first period deficit, defeating Lehigh Valley on Friday night 2-1. The Crunch have won six straight games for the first time since April 29th, 2022. Down one in the second, Tristan Allard and Gabriel Fortier scored two-goals, 23 seconds apart lifting Syracuse to the win. Syracuse needs just two points in their final four games to clinch a Calder Cup playoff spot. The Crunch is back in action on Saturday hosting Laval at 7 p.m.
Syracuse Crunch edges Utica in overtime

UTICA, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – The Syracuse Crunch pulled closer to clinching a playoff spot on Wednesday, defeating Utica in overtime 2-1. Max Groshev got the scoring started for the Crunch, striking for his first goal since February 21st in the first period. Utica would tie it midway through the second period, on a goal from Xavier Parent. Syracuse would pick up the extra point in overtime, as Max Crozier scored just 38 seconds into OT, lifting the Crunch to the win.
