SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR) — Nearly two weeks after being hired, Regy Thrope held his introductory news conference on Wednesday afternoon. He made it clear that the ultimate goal is to bring a national title to the SU women’s lacrosse program. This is a homecoming for Thorpe, who starred in high school at Jordan-Elbridge. After a successful two-year stint at Herkimer Community College, Thorpe played two seasons at Syracuse and helped the Orange win the 1993 national title as a team captain.

The SU women's lax team has a new head coach. I'm told by a source that Regy Thorpe has been hired to succeed Kayla Treanor. Thorpe was an All-American at SU & spent some time on Gary Gait's staff when Gait was with the women. Thorpe has spent the last handful of years at Florida

SU's ACC opponents for next basketball season have been announced. The Orange will play Pitt and UNC twice. Stanford is not on the schedule (Cal is home), so no West Coast trip. Home games against: Cal, Clemson, FSU, Miami, UNC, ND, Pitt, SMU, & Va Tech. Duke will be on the road.

One of the cool things about this job is that sometimes you get to be around people experiencing the best day of their lives. That’s what it felt like today talking with CJ Kirst after he led Cornell to its first championship in 48 years. https://t.co/ZuV443kHSX
