SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – SU is losing its top returning receiver to the transfer portal. Trebor Pena has decided to leave the program after spending the last five years at Syracuse. Last season, he led the Orange in receptions (84) and receiving touchdowns (9). Pena also was the team’s primary punt returner, so his departure will be felt both on offense and on special teams. Fran Brown had announced in December that Pena would serve as a team captain in 2025.

SU led the rest of the way in beating Pittsburgh 83-65. Georgia Woolley led the way with 25 points.

Fran Brown announced at this NIL event today that Hall of Famer Dwight Freeney is joining his staff in a player development role. Freeney is still 2nd all-time in sacks at Syracuse and has remained closely connected with SU since being selected in the 1st round of the '02 Draft.

An incredible NIL panel today at Syracuse University. Legendary namesake of our school of sport, Mr. David B. Falk, Super Bowl & NFL HOF Dwight Freeney plus our own @SUSportMgmt NIL Summit panelist Doug Scott of Network Advisory 🍊 https://t.co/MdHdJ2Pnhs

Carmelo Anthony is in San Antonio today for the unveiling of the entire 2025 Hall of Fame class. More than 20 years have passed since the title run, but it’s clear that ‘Melo’s short time in Syracuse left a lasting impression on him and helped set the stage for what was to come. https://t.co/vpCAeURCXS
