LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department is searching for a suspect who stole a vehicle in north Lincoln early Monday morning. Just after 3 a.m., officers were called to a house near 10th and Knox streets after a 2014 white Kia Rio was stolen out of the driveway. LPD said the car was left unlocked, but the keys were not inside the car. Around 4:15 a.m., officers found the vehicle about a mile away near Fourth Street and Nance Avenue. LPD said the driver fled when they saw the police.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska men’s basketball team won its fourth-straight game on Sunday, downing Ohio State 79-71 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. After being down 39-34 at halftime, the Huskers outscored the Buckeyes 45-32 in the second half to lock down the win. Nebraska had a solid shooting performance from the floor, shooting 52% compared to Ohio State’s 43%. The Huskers also went 18-for-21 from the free throw line, hitting at an 86% mark.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The No. 19-ranked Nebraska softball team lost its second-straight game on Sunday, falling 3-0 to No. 24 Mississippi State at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Florida. Sierra Sacco hit a two-out, three-run double in the bottom of the second inning to give the Bulldogs the only runs of the game. Kylee Magee (1-1) took the loss for the Huskers, pitching 2.0 innings and allowing three runs on four hits. Magee also struck out three batters.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Two separate train derailments in western Nebraska on Sunday occured along Highway 30. The Kimball County Sheriff’s Office reported a fiery train derailment just after 8 a.m., west of Dix on Highway 30. Several fire departments, Union Pacific and the Nebraska State Patrol all responded to the accident. Three hours later, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reported a train derailment on North Airport Road near Highway 30, just outside of North Platte.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating an overnight homicide in Seward. Just after 11:45 p.m. on Saturday, Seward County dispatch received a 911 call reporting a disturbance at a home near North Second and Lincoln streets. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an adult male leaving the house with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the patrol said in a press release. Inside the home, officers said they found a female with multiple gunshot wounds.
