    INDIANAPOLIS (WNDU) - A property tax relief plan with a hint of DOGE was passed by Indiana lawmakers early this morning and was signed into law by Gov. Mike Braun this afternoon. Senate Bill 1 promises to lower the homestead property tax bills of two-thirds of Hoosier homeowners starting next year compared to this year. The package offers a tax credit of 10% or a maximum of $300 to every homestead. Additional tax credits are then awarded to seniors, veterans, the disabled, and the blind.

    SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - There are signs that construction will resume on the Sideline Flats housing project off South Bend Avenue east of the Notre Dame campus. According to our news gathering partners at the South Bend Tribune, the South Bend City Board of Zoning Appeals approved a zoning change needed to restart the project. A developer broke ground and poured some concrete on the former site of Mulligan’s Bar and Grill in 2020.

It’s been more than 60 years since the thoroughfare (also known as County Road 23) has had any major work done, and Hennepin County is planning for big changes, including replacing aging infrastructure and improving safety and comfort for people using the corridor.

    The Minneapolis Police Department had nothing but good news at a March 21 presentation at the Nicollet Island Pavilion. About 100 people attended the meeting. “MStat” meetings are held every four to six weeks in one of the five police precincts, to keep the public informed about trends in crime. All five precincts were represented by their inspectors, who, using large video screens, explained the crime numbers for the past 11 weeks compared to the same time in 2024.

    LINCOLN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WNDU) - Plans are in the works for a 200-unit residential development on the site of the old Snowflake Motel property along Red Arrow Highway. The Snowflake opened in 1962 and was designed by the son-in-law of Frank Lloyd Wright. The Red Arrow Bluffs project calls for a collection of three-story buildings offering high quality housing for local professionals.
